About Jane O'Hara
I received my Bachelor of Health Sciences in Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound Technology from Dalhousie University and am an active member of Sonography Canada. I have practiced in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Alberta in both the public and private healthcare sectors. I work as a rotating sonographer for Canada Diagnostic Centres delivering exceptional patient care and quality diagnostic songraphic exams to rural and urban patient populations. Prior to my work as a rotating and locum sonographer I was an ultrasound team lead at various clinics in Alberta supporting teams through education and skill development, implementing policy updates, and supporting change initiatives at 11 clinics in Calgary. I also work part-time at the South Health Campus in the ultrasound department, focusing on my own professional development and delivering quality care to patients in a hospital setting.
Through my clinical experience I developed a passion for public health awareness and advocating for health literacy and accessibility. My travels through rural Alberta, British Columbia and Canada's northern Territories sparked a particular interest in access to care for remote communities and the need to streamline our delivery model.
To that end I started a Master of Health Studies where I will be tailoring my education towards policy reformation, public health promotion and education. Our health is important, but the healthcare system is complicated and moves quickly. Follow along for current healthcare research and learn how to have your own efficient health care treatment.
